Biography
L’Arc~en~Ciel – Japanese rock band, formed by bassist tetsuya in 1991 in Osaka. Two years after the debut their first album “Dune” rose to number one on the Oricon indies charts. In 1994, L'Arc-en-Ciel signed on with Sony music and since that time the band has released 11 albums and 36 singles.
Album “True”, released in 1996, became their first million selling album. In 1999 albums “Ark” and “Ray” were released at the same time, more than 6 million copies of which were sold in 7 Asian countries. More than 650 000 people attended 12 concerts of GRAND CROSS TOUR, held in summer of the same year. Lately the works of L’Arc~en~Ciel were generally recognized not only in Asia, but also in Europe and America. Latest tour L’7~Trans ASIA via PARIS~, held in spring of 2008, included 10 concerts in major Asian cities as well as their debut live in Paris.
The music of L’Arc~en~Ciel is full of bright and optimistic energy. In accordance with their name, which means “Rainbow” in French, their songs are very diverse. In every season, every mood you can find the song harmonizing with your heart and soul.1991
